Maintaining Campus Buildings: A Case Study on Gutter Cleaning at The University of Leicester Facilities
We recently completed cleaning the gutters at the University of Leicester.
The university dates to 1921, with a compact campus that contains a wide range of twentieth century architecture and older builder buildings from 1873.
It is important that these building, both old and new are protected. Gutter cleaning forms a big part of that protection to ensure that no water damage is caused to the buildings. Gutters play a crucial role in preventing water damage to the buildings by channelling rainwater away from the roofs and foundations.
The University knows that it is critical to have their gutters cleaned every year and include it in their annual maintenance plan for their properties.
They employed us over two campuses to ensure that the gutters are clean, well maintained and functioning properly.
The Gutter Clean
The project lasted 3 months cleaning several of the university’s buildings across two campuses.
It involved working on flat roofs using temporary man safe systems and our gutter vacuum systems with customised poles to reach those hard to access areas.
Full photographic condition surveys are provided to the client along with a schedule of itemised repair work for damages gutters and loose down pipes.
Leicester University were delighted with the work we carried out and will continue to use our services on their other campuses and buildings.
