Restoration Project

Brooklands were delighted to be part of Unipol Housing’ summer project restoring the Grade II listed building Cotton House in Nottingham. The project involved a full refurbishment and modernisation of the student accommodation before they re-opened the doors to students in 2023!

The building which was build in 1883, holds many original features which are paramount to the building’s unique character and beauty. Originally serving Nottingham’s local textile industry, it is now student accommodation for Nottingham Trent University and the University of Nottingham.

Our services focused on the high level exterior cleaning of the bricks and stone including DOFF cleaning of the bricks and window sills and gutter cleaning to ensure they are clear and so no serious maintenance issues arise from blocked gutters.

The exteriors were covered in vegetation and debris and the gutters were blocked. It was really important that the bricks and stone work was not damaged and that requires knowledge of cleaning techniques for different surfaces.

Brooklands were asked by 3 different companies to work on the project and look forward to working with these companies again in the future.

Project Delivery

Prior to the clean traffic management was put in place including two road closures for the duration of the clean.

The building was 5 stories high and required scaffolding and mobile elevated work platforms to reach the high reach exterior and gutters. We hold all the insurance and training to use the access equipment.

The project lasted 1 month with 2 operatives working onsite. Our trained technicians provide full report once the jobs are complete to use as part of their health and safety record and audits.
