Stone Cleaning

In the Summer of 2024, we were asked to supply the exterior cleaning as part of a care home restoration project. The fantastic stone building in Sheffield was in need of some restoration cleaning to unveil the stones original colour including the beautiful features hiding under dirt and grime that had built up over years.

Formally the site of a drugs rehabilitation centre that stars such as Amy Winehouse had visited.  Now a care home the owner wanted the building to be restored for its occupiers and visitors.

The building was sat untouched for many years and needed a careful clean by experienced operatives. The aim was to remove the atmospheric pollutants whilst maintaining the patina of the stone and keeping the sharpness of the detailed carvings which we achieved through our delicate cleaning methods. Due to the age of the building and the carved features in the stone, gentle cleaning techniques are required that would not damage the decorative features and stone.

Stone Cleaning in Safe Hands

Through our experience carrying out specialist cleaning services, we knew that a more delicate approach to clean the stone was required. We used a combination of chemical cleaning and DOFF cleaning to carefully remove the debris and keep all the intricate stone features in tact.

The team worked onsite for two weeks cleaning all the exterior stone of the building. Once the cleaning was complete the surrounding windows and paved surfaces were left clean and all debris safely removed.

The Results

The building was totally transformed! The clean removed all the debris and staining  revealing a the original stone colour, totally refreshing the look of the property.  The owners and occupiers were delighted.
